It is unlikely that the DIY photographer will have all of the necessary equipment in their kitbag to effectively photograph glass products or products with a transparent or reflective surface. It can even be a tricky challenge event for an experienced photographer. The lighting and the other compensation measures you put in place to reduce glare / reflections will vary depending on the shape of the object.
